A night at the tube park.

Tonight, Bron and I rugged up in our snowboarding gear and headed off with a few people from Brio staff housing to the tube park. It was a bit of a miserable turn out, just seven people including us, but we had enough fun for everyone else. Man those oversized hemorrhoid cushions really get some speed up down that hill. I took a few videos so I might try and get Phil to add one to his collection. A fun night had by all.

The time has finally come for me to update the last 30 odd days of my life. I think this will be a bit of a flick through, skipping to the good bits (and the bits that I can remember).
I think I will start where I left off again.
Wednesday 21st December, 2005.
The rainy conditions weren't really very nice for boarding so I jumped on a bus down to Function Junction to pick up a few things. My goal was to come back with two pillows, two matresses and linen for the lot. I succeeded on only one count, the pillows. I had a bit of a walk around Function Junction. It's pretty well and industrial estate with a hardware store, paint shops, mechanics, the bus depot. Not very interesting. There is a nice little break fast cafe down there that I might get down to one day but that's about the highlight.
Met up with Phil later on that arvo for a bit of Total Body Conditioning at Meadow Park. It was exactly as the name suggested, a full body workout. Felt good to do some exercise for the day though.
Played a bit of Poker round at Phil's in the evening. I quite like Texas Hold'em. Those of you familiar with late night poker will know the game.

Whistler Blackcomb have so many employees that they spread their Christmas party over 4 nights. This year's event was held at none other than the Fairmont Chateau ballrom. The retail accessories department (which I am losely affiliated with) had their night tonight. We had a beautiful turkey dinner and everyone was allocated two drink tickets each (of which I aquired two other peoples). There was a top live band playing a few carols and a lot of jazz as the night went on. This picture shows my turkey dinner.

We all headed off to Mojos after the party for a bit of reggae man. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

I dragged myself to work on Friday morning after a rather late night. Fortunately making it to work is the hardest part of my day. Once I'm at work I can sit with my feet up and listen to soothing music, but I have to be there on time with a smile, that's the deal.

I rode down at the end of the day, right to the bottom. It's the best part of my day. The parkies were setting up some rails under the Magic Chair for what is called Night Moves. They light up the slopes until 9pm and it's a jibathon (jibbing is the art of turning anything and everything into a snowboard jump/rail/slash). I had a fantastic time jibbing by myself, in the rain for two hours. What a great end to the working day.
The other highlight of the night was Ben's arrival back from his day trip to Vancouver. He picked up a whole heap of cool stuff including a webcam and speakers for his laptop and our new favourite toy, a dart board! Hours of entertainment right there. It is prooving to be a good past time for ben to keep the strength up in his right arm.
Saturday 24th December, 2005
Started christmas eve with a day up Whistler with Phil's mates Dave and Gav from Jersey. It was a pretty terrible day. Windy, rainy, most of the mountain was closed and there were heaps of people crammed into just a few accessible slopes. We braved it until about lunch time then headed down to the GLC for a few quiet ones and some appetizers. The GLC are pretty cheeky with their beer prices but the food is 20% off for staff, which isn't too bad.
Headed home for a bit of a nap to prepare for a big night at Merlins. Merlins is Whistler's Grand View on Christmas Eve, without the beer bottle throwing hooligans and arrests. I had one of the best nights out since I arrived. Santa's helpers....

brought me a lovely turkey dinner...

This was followed by copious amounts of the amber stuff and a few rounds of darts with these rather nice looking women.

(I didn't tell Claire or Sarah that I had been practicing just hours before on our board ;))
There was even a New Year's Eve style count down at mid-night which was a bit strange but everyone was in such high spirits.
Phil tried against my better judgement to fit his brand new Canon digital camera in my Altoids tin. This was the result:

I dropped the girls off at the bus stop about half an hour after the count-down and then headed off home. I decided to take a detour via Tommy Africa's night club just to see if I could find anyone I knew and I ran into these fellas...

and this guy! I hadn't seen Dave in a couple of days. Pretty strange considering he sleeps two feet away from me.

That's all I can write for now. I'm going tubing! I'll write some more as soon as I get a chance. Bye for now.
I think I will start where I left off again.

Hi everyone.
Just a quick not to say that I am alive and having a great time. I had the last 3 off work and spent them on the mountain with Dane and Kim. Three of the best days of the season so far. I'm glad to be back at work though as my joints could do with a few days to recover!
I think the number of days since I have updated this site is blowing out of control but I will attempt an update as soon as I can.
How is everyone at home? I haven't heard much from you guys either :)
Time to open up the storage shack.

I decided that I should write this one while it was still fresh in my head. Well actually, I wasn't all that fresh when I wrote it after 3 hours sleep, but the adrenalin was still pumping in my veins from the previous night as I'm sure you will be able to tell by the nature of the post. I will get around to filling in the last few weeks at some stage, however I have this post written so I will post it now.
January 1, 2006.
I'm at work on the 1/1/2006, I have the Jamiroquai pumping, it's 11am and I have been through every photo and movie on my camera no less than 10 times. I crack up every time through. Last night was the happiest New Year's Eve of the 24 that I have experienced! I have never been around such a crazy, happy bunch of people as the ones that I spent last night with. I wasn't sure when I woke up this morning whether last night had been a mad dream or whether it had really taken place. Thank god for digital cameras!
I arrived home from work at the usual time feeling pretty beat. I sewed up the gaping hole that had been forming in the crotch of my work pants and then snuck in a 20 minute nanna nap. Dane and Kim arrived home from their day tripping around the village with the night's ingredients. Canadian Club whiskey, Canadian Dry ginger ale, 2 fresh limes, fetta stuffed olives (Dane shares my fetish for olives) and crisps. I called Phil to find out what time the festivities where kicking off at his place and he said to drop 'round as soon as we were ready. We got ready and set off on a 10 minute hike through some of the wettest, heaviest snow I have ever hiked through. By the time we arrived, my Julius Marlows had more snow in them than the lower half of Whistler mountain. I sat my shoes and socks by the chimney with care and we cracked the seal on our CC. I think I may have found my new drink. Delicious!

After a few rounds, Phil decided that it was time for Balderdash. The game involves one person reading out a card similar to the answer side of a Trivial Pursuit card and the remaining players write down what they think the answer means. The reader then reads out everyone's answers as well as the correct answer and then everyone has to guess which one is the real one. You receive two points for a correct answer and one point each time someone chooses your answer so the best bull-shitter wins. It's such a great drinking game. Some of the answers that were dished up were priceless. It turns out that I was the best bull-shitter of the night, closely followed by Kimbo. The game took us through 'till 10:30pm, time to get our money's worth out of our $30 tickets to the Crystal Lounge. The walk to the village was hilarious. Our song for the night was The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

The village was absolutely cooking. Everyone in our group was instantly overcome by the funky music playing and danced without reserve for around 45 minutes in the snow. We ducked into the Crystal Lounge to don our costumes and warm up with a quick Jamison and dry (in honor of our good friend Jimmy). Some silly person gave us party whistles and so began the symphony of moaning curlews. As if one whistle each wasn't enough, most of us ended up with three at once, all a couple of micro tones out of tune with each other.

We took our whistles and crazy hats and danced back to the centre of the village for the count down. The bouncers weren't going to let us back in because apparently our tickets weren't for the village but he didn't stand a chance of keeping us out. We counted down, hugged and kissed, then they let out about 20 beach balls for an all in game of snow volley ball. Both Dane and I ended up with a deflated souvenir to remember the night by.

After the count down, we headed back to the Crystal Lounge to round up the celebrations. More dancing, more whistle blowing, some champagne...

The costumes were drawn to Phil like a fly to you know what.

2am. Time to go home, but not without a visit to the Four'n'twenty pie shop. Could this night get any better!

We ice skated home and were in bed by 3:30am. I closed my eyes and my alarm beeped 7am. I felt surprisingly alive, probably just as well I didn't have to drive anywhere though. I caught the lift up and bee-lined it for the breakfast bar at Rendezvous for a full breakfast of bacon, 2 eggs over easy, sausages, hash-browns and toast... oh baby. I spent the day singing John Mayer songs in preparation for my up and coming Karaoke debut.
There were numerous movies caputured by my digi cam througout the night. Phil and I are going to try our hands at editing and see what we can put together. I hope you find it as funny as we did.
